Google Drive is live!

The worst kept secret on the planet is official now. That's right. Google's cloud service, Google Drive is live and direct on the web, Play Store, and Android. Google Drive is basically a re-branding of Google Docs, which isn't a bad thing. At the jump set, you get 5 GB to play with. You can upgrade up to 25 GB for 2.49 a month(which will also bump up your Gmail and Picasa storage as well), 100 GB for 4.99 a month, 1TB for $50 a month, and $800 a month for 16TB.

I haven't really put it through its paces yet, but this is a good start for Google, if they are going to compete in this field for the long term. My guess is that with their history of being able to infuse cash into whatever they get involved in, they will continue to upgrade Google Drive to become a dynamic piece of Google's ecosystem or it will die quickly. My guess is it will thrive as the future in cloud storage is upon us.

Once you go to Google Drive, you'll notice that is looks awfully familiar. Its basically Google Docs with a new name. You have to download an .exe file which in turn set  up a Google Drive folder on your hard drive. That's basically it. Just drag and drop files into your Google Drive folder or you can upload via the web application. On a side note, Google doesn't count any Google Doc files against your storage. My guess is, Google wants users to use your Docs more and more.

Also, there is a Google Drive app in the Play Store. Its a pretty clean interface with five options once you open.
    * My Drive - List all of your files and folders
    * Shared with me - List of files that were shared with you
    * Starred - All of your files you deem important and what to see right away
    * Recent - All of your recent actions you've done to your files
    * Offline - Files you've downloaded to your device to have when your connection is lost

Last but not least, here is Phil from Android Central doing a quick video of Google Drive.

Rumor: Sprint releasing HTC EVO 4G LTE on May 18th

That phone up above ^^^^^^^^ could possibly be in my paws on May 18th. That's right my friends, a Sprint insider has told a friend at Androidandme that a May 18th release date is imminent. This rumor does follow up a rumor posted by Phonedog last week regarding that magical release date.

We all know that a pre-order date was established for May 7th. It will be priced nicely at $199.99 like all high end phones at Sprint.

I've read alot about the availability of LTE when the new EVO comes out, but will that stop you from upgrading or coming to Sprint? The best going for Sprint right now is their unlimited data plan. NOBODY can beat it right now. I'm curious to see if that will change when Sprint's Network Vision is completed in 2014. Personally, I'm a tech enthusiast and I will have this beauty in my hands on May 18th or in June.

Sprint Network Vision Locations added

Network-vision-leak

As you can see in the upper image, Sprint has revealed 8 locations that were recently complete with Network Vision in their respective areas. Glad to see that Sprint is staying on the peddle on getting the LTE rollout out as fast as they can.

The Eight locations listed are:
Akron, OH
Atlanta, GA
Chicago, IL
Ft. Worth, TX
Nashville, TN
Rialto, CA
Stockton, CA

With Sprint's rollout of the LG Viper, Galaxy Nexus, and the soon to be released HTC EVO 4G LTE,  some areas will hopefully be able to use LTE on their phones very soon.

Name Change

Since the HTC One X name never materialized for Sprints version, I am changing the name. Thanks to Sprint, the EVO name will live on for the next Sprint flagship device. I will do my best to keep bringing news, rumors, and anything for the EVO 4G LTE. I'm excited to finally to see a light at the end of the tunnel. The EVO will be here soon and I just can't wait. Keep coming back as I will try to add content on a daily basic. Thanks again. Happy reading.

Would you want a White HTC EVO 4G LTE?

EVO 4G LTE white

Would you pass on a black EVO 4G LTE if a white version was available at launch? A forum member over at Android Central asked this. In the past, Sprint has come out with white version of their popular phones. My only questions is, would Sprint announce a white version before pre-orders start? Or would Best Buy have an exclusive again like the EVO 4G? And if Best Buy does get an exclusive again, would you wait and not pre-order in hopes of this? Now, that's an interesting question.

Head on over to Android Central's HTC EVO 4G forum to join in the discussion.

HTC One X vs HTC EVO 4G LTE

Now that Sprint has unveiled their version of the HTC One X, called the HTC EVO 4G LTE, let's see who's on top of the world right now. I'm going to list many features of the phone to compare and based this off of my thinking and what I've read on the net since last night. Let's Go!!!!

HTC One X HTC EVO 4G LTE
Design:  All white unibody x All black with red accents
and silver trim
Screen: 4.7-inch Super LCD2 display x 4.7-inch Super LCD2 display x
Processor:  Qualcomm S4 processor at 1.5 GHz x Qualcomm S4 processor at 1.5 GHz x
Camera: F2.0 8mm wide-angle optics x F2.0 8mm wide-angle optics x
Software: Ice Cream Sandwich and Sense 4 x Ice Cream Sandwich and Sens 4 x
Audio:  Beat by Dre x Beat by Dre x
Battery: 1800mah 2000mah removable x
Storage:  16gb 16gb and sd card slot x
Other:  HD Voice x

In my honest opinion, the One X is so different from what HTC has done in the past, that a lot of folks would rather have this version. But on the other hand, the EVO 4G LTE stays true to the EVO spirit and has the kickstand back, that might swayed the OG EVO owners to stay HTC versus getting the Galaxy Nexus or waiting to see if Samsung brings the SGIII to Sprint.

I'm staying with Sprint cause I like the style of the EVO. I kinda wished for more red accents but since I'll be on Sprint, I have a bigger battery and a micro sd slot.

Update: I forgot to mention that the EVO 4G LTE is going to come with Google Wallet also.

Sprint announces the HTC EVO 4G LTE

HTC EVO 4G LTE

Sprint has formally announced the next EVO in the family. It will be called the HTC EVO 4G LTE. A little long on the name but I guess EVO One didn't fit the name history. The phone looks nothing like the AT&T version. I preferably like their version better. The EVO LTE will be all black with red accent, and metal trim. There were no specs revealed at the unveiling, so I'm guessing the same as the rumored specs right now. Sprint did mention that their version will have a micro sd slot and a kickstand.

Contract price will be 199.99, which will happily keep alot of folks on Sprint happy. You can't go wrong with a price point like that. Pre-sales will start on May 7th.

Sprint also mentioned Beat by Dre audio and the camera of course. This was a short 30 minute presentation.

Update: The EVO does have a dedicated camera buttom and only a 2000mah batter

More pics down bottoms.

Leaked photos ahead on today's announement

Our friends over at Droid-Life managed to get some leaded photos of the upcoming HTC EVO One. As we see, Android Central's tip was right in that phone will have a black/red combo scheme, with a kickstand too. I don't mind the color scheme, but it does look like the past EVO's in style. I was hoping yesterday's leaked press shot was just a fake as I like the new look HTC is going with. We've all heard about the insides of this beast, which should help sales if they plan on keeping the EVO look.

I can't wait to finally see it in all its glory this evening. I will be glued to my screen and will report back with my thoughts tonight. More screen shots below.

HTC EVO One - Press Shot

This my friend is the first press shot of the HTC EVO One sandwiched in between AT&T's One X and T-Mobile's One S. As we know, Sprint will be unveiling this thing of beauty tomorrow afternoon with HTC in New York.

As we know, Android Central got a juicy tip last week of the reported specs. Rumors have 4.7 inch screen, 720 Amoled screen, 1.5 dual-core Krait processor, 2650mah non-removal battery, 16GB internal memory, micro sd card slot, Android 4.0 with 4.0 sense, 8 megapixel camera with 2.0 front facing, LTE, and Beats by Dre audio.

Tomorrow can't come soon enough. Also, will the rumored launch date is  June 6th.

AT&T One X released pushed back to May 6th?

Best Buy e-mail HTC One X

While we still wait for an official announcement from ATT&T on the release of the HTC One X, Best Buy might of spilled the beans. What you see in that pic above is an email from BB to a customer that had already pre-ordered the One X. The email tells said customer that the release date has been pushed back to May 6th. Even though nobody knows exactly when the release is, that sku # does mean that it will be in stock at some point in the near future.

HTC One X - Sprint Rumor

Phil over at AndroidCentral just received a curious email regarding the HTC Jet (One X) for Sprint. Nothing is confirmed but here are the tidbits from the email.

"Our HTC rep come in today and showed my the new phone that Sprint will be announcing April 4th. The phone is to be called something like HTC EVO One and be released June 6th, here is what I know about the phone...

4.7 inch, 720 Amoled screen
1.5 dual-core krait processor
2650mah non-removal battery
16GB internal memory + micro sd card slot
Android 4.0 with 4.0 sense
8 megapixel camera with 2.0 front facing
LTE, beat by Dre adio

Phone is black, & red and has a nice EVO 4g look to it, super thin and feel solid in your hands. Phone also has kick stand about 1 inch under the camera, seems weird but actually works nice."

What do you think?

HTC One X and One V gets first love in China and Taiwan

China Times is reporting that the HTC One X and V will have its first market release in China and Taiwan on April 2nd. Looks like the UK will have to wait 3 days before releasing it in their market.

Pricing will be 20,900 Taiwan dollars (about $706) for the One X, while the One V will be 10,900 Taiwan dollars (about $368). That should be alright considering the One X is the franchise phone and the V will be pulling up the rear.

HTC and Sprint to hold an event on April 4th

Sprint and HTC sent out invites on Tuesday for a joint event between Sprint and HTC. The rumor mills suggests that they will announce the HTC Onc X as the next Sprint flagship device. S4GRU announced on Monday that Sprint would be releasing the HTC One X on June 10th, so this event could very well be the official announcement. Sprint CEO Dan Hesse and HTC President Jason Mackenzie will be on hand to officially spill the beans. Who on Sprint is waiting for a 4.6 inch HD display, Snapdragon S4 chip set, 8 mp camera, and Sense 4? I know I am.

UK HTC One prices emerge

Pre-orders pricing for the One Series in the UK is now available. Amazon, Clove and Expansys are listing the HTC One X for £490-500. Amazon and Clove are listing the One S for £440-450. They are both still carrying a release date of April 5th .

As we know, there still isn't a definite release date for the US release. Rumors have said April, but nothing in stone yet.

HTC One X coming to Sprint on June 10th?

Could the HTC One X be the third LTE phone released behind the Samsung Galaxy and LG Viper? According to S4GRU, they have dug up enough evidence to safely say that the HTC One X will be released on June 10th. The info they obtained has a phone codenamed the HTC Jet, which has the same specs as the HTC One X. This will be the same version as the one AT&T will release in April. It will come with the S4 Snapdragon chipset and also NFC capability. There is no word if the name will change to the EVO HD. But it seems that also two years to the date, Sprint will be releasing another franchise device.

Its only a matter of time before we get a definite date of release here in the States. Yes, the One X has passed through the FCC mittens. Let the speculation begin. Will it be on any of the three carriers besides ATT&T? Hopefully. To me, this will be one of the first big releases this year. What do you think?

HTC One X gets Root and Superboot

Boy, that was fast. Already before its release, the HTC One X has already gotten root permission. Rom developer "Modaco" has already put together a superboot package that will easily give the phone root permission. all you would have to do is run a script on your PC/Mac/Linux desktop over a USB connection. Just make sure you're in bootloader mode.

Rumor: HTC One X coming to T-Mobile and Sprint?

According to our friends at Androidandme, T-Mobile's version with have a quad-core Tegra 3 processor that supports HSPA+. Sprint's version will be the same S4 Snapdragon processor as AT&T with integrated LTE. Also, Sprint might keep the EVO name with the likes of EVO LTE, EVO HD, or EVO 3.
